Joe Biden is the new American president !

Dear pupils,

We finally have the results of the American election ! Joe Biden is the new president of the United States of America and Kamala Harris makes history as the first woman elected vice president.

Here are the numbers:
- Biden = 290 electoral votes - 75, 196, 516 votes - 50,65%
- Trump = 214 electoral votes - 70, 803, 881 votes - 47,69%

America's new president is always inaugurated on January 20th, the year after the election has taken place. So President elected Biden will be sworn in (to swear in = prêter sermon) on January 20th, 2021.
This is a date set by the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

Inauguration Day for Biden and Harris as president and vice president will take place at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington D.C.
